Description
Matra au Mans. By Francois Hurel french text.
The story of Matra at Le Mans is that of an arms dealer who became a dream dealer. Matra was above all a state of mind, a panache that would lead the French firm to a triple success at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1972, 73, 74), to the point of disgusting Ferrari. This absence of complexes was instilled by Jean-Luc Lagardère, a young manager in search of glory and notoriety. In ten years, he would restore to the French automobile a prestige that it had not known since Bugatti. Matra at Le Mans are also the most prestigious names in French motorsport: Pescarolo, Larrousse, Beltoise, Cevert, Jabouille, Depailler, Jaussaud, Wollek, Servoz Gavin, Schlesser, Ducarouge … This book illustrated with 360 documents for the Most unpublished, is completed by an interview with Jean-Pierre Beltoise and by the technical files of all the Matras that raced at Le Mans, from 1966 to 1974.
