Description

FORD GT40 AMR2 NO.24 12H SEBRING 1966 G. HILL – J. STEWART

AMR2 is the second lightweight and modified prototype of a Ford GT40 entered by Alan Mann at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1966. Entrusted to Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart, it qualified third fastest. Hill took the lead in the first lap but was forced to stop briefly to properly close a recalcitrant door, a recurring incident affecting these cars. A door, unintentionally damaged against a pylon bordering the track by Stewart spinning over the oil copiously spilled by Sutcliffe’s Ford GT40. It was ultimately a defective valve that put an end to their performance.
